The production version of the 2012 Honda Civic has been unveiled, looking very similar to the Civic concepts that were on display at the Detroit Auto Show. Now in its ninth-generation, the new Civic promises to be even more fuel efficient than before, while retaining the unique style and reliability that car buyers have come to expect from the Civic. For 2012, the Civic will get a new base model called the HF. The Civic HF will be the most fuel-efficient gasoline-only powered Civic in the lineup. It will feature a 1.8-liter i-VTEC engine and should earn a competitive 41 miles per gallon on the freeway.
The Civic Hybrid will also continue to be offered for those seeking high-mileage. But for 2012, the Hybrid will be outfitted for the first time with a lithium-ion battery and a larger 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine. Despite its larger engine, it’s still expected to get a combined 45 mpg.
